Barrie Cameron's novels

To date, Cameron has written and published a three volume science fiction novel entitled 'Planetoid Trilogy'.

He is presently working on a second novel.

Planetoid Trilogy

Planetoid Trilogy

Cameron's first novel, 'Planetoid Trilogy', consists of the three books: 'Star Island', 'Three Fates', and 'Phoenix'.

He set the start of his 'Planetoid Trilogy' novel in the near future, in 2050, to be exact.

For this tale, he chose a hybrid genre of hard and soft science fiction. Perhaps this needs some clarification:

Hard Sci-Fi

The term hard science fiction here refers to the use in the novel of realistic human science and technology of the twenty-first century; but there are also the issues of Earth geopolitics.

The mid-twenty-first century world is increasingly under stress from global warming and now, if out of control climate was not enough, there is a new danger arriving from interstellar space!

Soft Sci-Fi

The soft science fiction refers to the introduction into the novel of speculative technology of the future. Also there is help from an unexpected quarter and the need for new technologies.

Space Adventurers

The heroes of the story must undertake a dangerous mission. Throughout the story, their adventure is clouded by the mystery of the Planetoid of the title. Yet regardless of the hidden perils that they risk on their journey, they must overcome greater challenges. Not only an existential threat to human civilization but also to the Earth’s biosphere itself!

Book One, 'Star Island'

'Star Island' introduces, through unusual events, the unlikely heroes who will attempt to save Earth.

Book Two, 'Three Fates'

'Three Fates' recounts their journey through deep space to rendezvous with the Planetoid beyond the orbit of Pluto.

Book Three, 'Phoenix'

'Phoenix' reveals their encounters with the Planetoid, their adventures to uncover the deepening mystery concerning the visitor's true nature and origin, and their ultimate fate in attempting to save Earth.
