Jake’s Bar, Star Island

Why does a Californian professional archaeologist drive hundreds of miles to meet an internet influencer, explorer, and amateur archaeologist in a bar in a small town in northern Nevada? What could be so intriguing in the desert?

Jake’s Bar

That’s the scene in Chapter Ten of “Star Island“, Book One of “Planetoid Trilogy“.

The pair head out with colleagues to a mysterious cave beside a dry stream bed, the Dry River cave.

Do you remember our interview of Barrie Cameron in our post of of 25th June 2022?

In that post, Cameron discussed his character, Dr James Anderson. Jimmy was very interested in this cave. This led us to discuss ancient ruins that, in the popular mind, have been linked to alien artifacts and encounters. Cameron had conceded that the genre of his novel, “Planetoid Trilogy“, was a hybrid, being somewhere between hard and soft science fiction. He also discussed the topic of aliens in speculative non-fiction.

alien artifacts?

The interview was sensitive to spoilers and so not much was really revealed of the events of that Chapter 4, “Dry River Cave“. Well, we can reveal today that the events recounted in Chapter 10, “Jake’s Bar“, follow on from those in Chapter 4.
